Computer Evolution: From Its Beginning Till Date
Computers' development is an exciting journey in technological improvements that brought the world alive. From enormous behemoths of the 1940s to today's sleek and strong devices, computer technology has evolved dramatically in every aspect-from performance and size to capacity.
The Early Years: 1940s - 1950s
The first generation of computers came into actual operation from the late 1940s onwards. Earlier, such machines would rely mostly on the vacuum tubes. They were huge, entire rooms would be taken up and all would require immense power. One of the most well-known computers during this time is ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer), which was developed in 1945. It was indeed capable of performing complex calculations, but early computers suffered limitations regarding size, speed, and reliability.
